The General Humberts is as close as you get to feeling like home, the staff are awesome, and the owner's are as enthusiastic as the patrons when it comes to having a good time.
This is not a plastic paddy pub, The General Humberts is covered with original irish and french history which will capture even the most hardened pub crawler. With all this in mind, General's has its own distinctive atomosphere which is the reason this pub sets itself apart from the rest.General Humberts has an exclusive range of whiskys, other spirits, and beers, and the knowledge that goes with it, there is not much that owners Nico and pepe cant tell you about local and international beverages. If you need reason to travel to france this is it the General Humberts in La Rochelle is the first, the second, and the last stop while travailing and for all you kiwis and aussies in london daily flights to and from Stanstead to La Rochelle can cost about as much as couple tickets to the movies. Get there i promise you won't be disapointed. - Mike(more strong)Smith, New Zealand More Strong, Sep 15, 2006 |

Coming from Ireland, found the drink overall in LaRochelle to be pricey but this pub was one of the less-expensive ones... Atmosphere, from 11:30 onwards was superb... and unlike many Iirsh bars abroad, it felt like an Irish bar. One bit of warning though... avoid the ice-breaking with forehead game in the wee hours of the morning... it can leave a dinger of a mark!!! - Wrinkles, Ireland
