stayed there for a hen weekend last year and everything was great, the bar staff joined in with the fun. couldnt fault them and im staying there again this weekend for another hen - happy customer, kildare

Sytayed in Rafter Dempseys last Saturday. Very disappointed with it. Staff unfriendly and slow.Couldn't have a shower in the morning as the temperature control for the shower wasn't working. We politely told the staff but they were unapologetic and have no intention of getting it fixed. Not cheap for the standards provided at 65 euro per head. It's just living off its location which is just not good enough!!! - John, Westmeath

Good god what kip...my room had a smell of sick...and damp...the manager or owner Gerry could do with a lesson in manners...and my lunch was cold...didn't stay the second night...when i complained they just scoffed at me...i was very dissapointed and upset...........but the city itself is fab... - Sandra, england

Myself and my partner booked in to stay for two nights.After the first night the owner went into our room,packed up our cases and moved us into another room without our knowledge.when we got back to the accomodation after being out for the day he told us he needed the room as it had three beds and did we mind that he moved our things to another room.Needless to say we left.How can this place still be in business????? - siobhan, meath

Used this place as a base for a recent stag party in Kilkenny. Rooms were basic but for €50 a head you couldn't ask for much more and the hearty breakfast in the morning was the perfect pick-me-up. The central location means your less than 50 yards from some of Kilkenny's best bars and nightclubs, will definitely stay here again and have no hesitation recomending it to others. - D Quinn, Waterford, Ireland

this is by far one of the worst run venues ive ever entered. the owner who we had this misfortune of meeting is rude, sexist, loud and ignorant. the food although good is not worth waiting ALL that time for. - displeased, Ireland

Rafters Dempseys is an excellent place to stay for those who want a central location in kilkenny city. The quality of accomodation is of a high standard and the full irish in the morning is scrumptuous. I would recommend Dempseys to those who want to experience the unparalled nightlife of kilkenny city without having the hassle of finding transport home!! - Sarah Haslam, Ireland
