Sex Not Specified This bar really, really deserves a five star rating from the Cork Tourist Board. The landlord is a malignant dwarf with the demeanour of a rattle snake.

If you wish to enjoy Cork and the friendliness of the inhabitants then avoid this place at all costs! It will leave a bad taste in your mouth. - Good manners cost nothing, Britain

Sex Not Specified An Spailpin Fanach was my favorite haunt when I use to live in Cork.
Anytime I return, I'm sure to be there. - Liam Flynn, States

Male Nice atmosphere, never too crowded and a good pint, but I have to agree about the staff being ill-mannered. They're pleasant enough when it suits them, but most times they act as if they just couldn't be bothered. They could do with a downturn in business to sort their manners out.

Male The Spailpin Fanach is a bit of an insitution. It's a meandering pub with lots of little seats but it's not a huge superpub. Atmosphere is good and relaxed and it's just a good spot for a few pints or if you're witha group.

Sex Not Specified I really like this pub. There's nooks and crannys everywhere to have a nice quiet pint with a small group. For tourists it's probably the best place to go for some real trad sessions in the city. I've never really paid that much attention to the service but the atmosphere must make up for it. As for the signs about not drinking at the bar at night: possibly the best idea anyone has ever had. It makes it so much easier to get served.

Sex Not Specified The Spailpin is the first port of call for me whenever I go to Cork and the reason it is such a favourite to me is because of the service! If anything I have found the staff too helpful giving me ideas for places to visit and by the time they've finished it's too late to go anywhere. The food is top class and the music fantastic. A really friendly pub with loads of atmosphere.

Sex Not Specified When I went there I witnessed the barman being extremely rude to a confused Japanese tourist. He then turned to me and said (within earshot of the tourist), "They think we're going to short change them". He then proceeded to short change me. There are also irritating signs posted on the wall telling you not to stand at the bar drinking at night. This place is featured in all the tourist guides for Cork, and I think this is why they think they can get away with treating their customers like this. The drinks are excellent quality and there is often live music and it usually has a lively atmosphere but it's let down by the terrible service. Avoid and try somewhere friendlier like Dan Lowrey's or Sin E instead.

Sex Not Specified Really cool pub. Nicely laid out and a great place for a few pints.
